Next generation production - How innovation is transforming content creation
At #mthcon you will receive an exclusive presentation from the DPP – the media industry’s business network – on their ground breaking research into the future of production.
Many production companies have been reluctant to adopt cloud-led tools. But others have become pioneers – exploring how connected working can make them more effective. Now the DPP has undertaken in-depth, qualitative research with many of these pioneering companies to find out just how they are working differently.
From a small digital agency to a major Hollywood studio, the DPP presents a series of case studies that show the emergence of innovative new tools, services, workflows and business models.
Mark Harrison, Managing Director of the DPP, and Nic Kemp, workflow consultant and DPP associate will deliver insights from these next generation producers, and ask if they are shaping a whole new best practice for production.

Revolutionizing Data With XR
Until now, data has existed as dashboards, line graphs, pie charts, and scatter plots. But as the scale, complexity, and variety of modern datasets continues to grow exponentially, these traditional data visualization methods hit their limits and no long accurately communicate insights. XR (virtual and augmented reality) technologies offer a better way to explore datasets naturally and holistically, while decreasing the amount of time and effort needed to discover actionable insights. However - If data is no longer flat and no longer exists as charts and graphs - what does it look like? How will we interact with immersive ‘data environments’, and how will they increase the value of our data?

Workshop 2 - Lessons from a Film Technology Startup Founder: How You Can Embrace AI & Machine Learning
The following workshop is about one startup founder’s journey towards embracing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as a differentiator in the industry. Weerada Sucharitkul, the CEO and Cofounder of FilmDoo, discusses her journey on developing FilmDoo and how innovative applications of AI enabled the company to repurpose their technology as an edutainment platform helping people to learn languages and explore culture through films.

Launched in 2015, the company initially focused on the content and entertainment industry. As the industry became more competitive, looking beyond the film and entertainment industries was key towards developing new proprietary technologies and innovation that allows FilmDoo to differentiate in the marketplace. Today, FilmDoo utilizes and draws upon synergies in AI and machine learning applications across the advertising, sports and education sectors.

After sharing her experience, Weerada will give a brief introduction into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The workshop then ends by kicking off discussions with the audience on real-world applications of AI and Machine Learning across different industries.

Workshop 3 - Best Ways for Versioning
In an increasingly global market for great quality content, localisation is more important than ever. You can’t be a global player unless you’re a local player too. But how can you build a content supply chain that allows you to localise your content efficiently? How do you avoid spiralling costs as you distribute your content to more markets? And what’s the impact on the production process? The Interoperable Master Format - IMF - is a great tool for managing versioning and mastering more effectively. It can help you to build more efficient processes and reduce costs, yet it may seem daunting at first. That’s why the DPP has published a range of operational guidance to help you implement IMF. Join Rowan to learn what IMF is, and to understand its impacts on versioning, metadata, QC and distribution.

In cooperation with Digital Production Partnership (DPP).

This workshop is presented by Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf".

Agile XR Project - From an Idea to a Product
The implementation of XR projects requires a process model that is specifically geared to the challenges of the design and implementation of 3D experiences and continuously adapts to new requirements and findings.
In this slot, the procedure for an XR project is considered from the idea through implementation to the finished product. The differences between conventional IT projects and XR projects are highlighted. The slot answers questions on how Design Thinking can be used to find ideas and why it makes sense to develop a product vision. Why is it good to add a storyboard to the backlog known from agile projects? Both form the basis for the common understanding of all participants. How do I break the project down into smaller subtasks and how does a Planning Poker support the continuous determination of the effort required for time planning?
The agile realization of these tasks in sprints places special demands not only on the developers, but also on designers and testers in XR development.

This session will be presented by team neusta / HEC.
